Wheelchair Inclusion at Retro Rollers

We believe roller skating should be fun, welcoming and accessible. We’re often asked whether wheelchair users can attend our roller discos — and the answer is yes.

How wheelchair participation works

• Wheelchair users may take part with a dedicated carer skating whilst pushing the wheelchair

• The carer must be 18 years of age or over

• The carer must be confident and competent on roller skates

• The wheelchair must be a non-motorised (manual) wheelchair

• Skating takes place at a controlled speed, staying towards the outer edge of the skate floor

• On busier sessions, the organiser may request the carer wears a high-visibility vest (provided)

Our roller discos are lively, fun events and typically include:

• Loud music

• Disco-style lighting

• Flashing lights

Tickets & waivers

• Both the wheelchair user and the carer require a ticket

• All attendees must complete a standard Adult or Child waiver

• In addition to the waiver a Carer Acknowledgement – Wheelchair Participation form must also be completed

Planning your visit

We recommend getting in touch before booking if you’re attending with a wheelchair user. This allows us to answer questions, advise on suitable sessions, and make sure everything runs smoothly on the day.

We’re listening...

While we don’t currently run dedicated wheelchair or quiet sessions, we’re always open to listening. If there’s interest from the disabled community, we’d be very happy to explore what could be possible in the future.
